Meet Helene Chung Martin

Many long term ABC television viewers will remember newsreader and journalist Helene Chung.

Helene did her first report on radio program AM in 1968; from there she travelled the world as a freelance journalist, until joining This Day Tonight in 1974. In the 1980's Helene was the ABC's foreign correspondent in Beijing. Helene has freelanced for a number of broadcasters.

Ching Chong China Girl (2008) follows Helene's life from Tasmanian convent girlhood through triumph and heartbreak to the present.
